about

“happyrobots:smilingpeople”.
Made in Scotland, Holland, Japan and the USA, this record is a departure from the
down tempo eclectic folk musing that was Northern Electric. Parenthood and the
inclusion of cruiser’s co-founder, Jamie Wishart, has inspired the band to become more
of an ELECTRONIC SCOTTISH POP UNIT.
The beats are stronger, the guitars are louder, and the band, have beaming smiles on
their faces (surely a first for any band who tip their hats to shoegazing!). Nintendo DS
Lites hooked up to overdrives and guitars that sound like bagpipes, add some spice to
the menu of simple lyrics, playground melodies and electronic trickery.
Collaborations with Peel Session veterans Persil, Tokyo singer Mayuko, and
Minnesota’s indie genius Tiger,Tiger can be found, giving the record a more
international feel.
